Service Request

A service request is a request from a user for a standardized IT service or support. Such requests are part of IT service management and differ from faults or system failures (incidents).

Routine tasks or support services provided by IT are most often affected. This includes, for example, access requests, software installations or other standardized services.

Functionality and Use

Service requests are usually recorded and processed via a ticket system. The request is then forwarded to the responsible team, implemented and documented.
